Rutland Water offers a very wide range of attractions for visitors of all ages. The 3,100 acres of beautiful countryside encompasses a large reservoir – the largest man made reservoir in Europe. Opportunities to fish for Rutland trout, cycle hire, sailing, walking and even a trip on the Rutland Belle. Every August the national bird fair is hosted at Rutland Water.

Burghley House / Horse Trials

One of England's most prestigious horse trials takes place in September each year. Conifers is approximately 15 miles from Burghley.

Barnsdale Gardens, Barnsdale, Rutland

Open all year round as a tribute to the work of Geoff Hamilton. On show are the gardens familiar to millions of BBC 2's Gardeners' World viewers as "The garden that Geoff built."

Belvoir Castle

The castle is home to the Duke and Duchess of Rutland. It offers spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and contains a fine collection of French furniture, Italian sculptures and famous paintings.

Oakham Castle

 The splendid Great Hall of Oakham Castle is one of the finest examples of late 12th Century domestic architecture in England. It was built by Walkelin de Ferrers, a Norman baron, in about 1180-90.

¨ Hambleton Hall  - fine dining, fabulous location. Whissendine’s own Michelin chef Aaron Patterson.

¨ Olive Branch, Clipsham—this is a multi award winning Gastro Pub. Book well in advance though.

¨ Slipcote Bistro, Whissendine –Barry & Keith offer good quality bistro food. It won’t break the bank!

¨ White Lion Inn, Whissendine - new management, great Indian menu—spiced to your own taste buds!

¨ Noel Arms, Langham - lovely pub, new chef and now serving a local produce menu.

¨ Red India, Oakham - fabulous value good Indian cuisine. Take your own drinks. Cash or cheque only. 

¨ Dining Room, Oakham - contemporary Indian cuisine in a very nice restaurant. Different!

¨ Nicks, Oakham - great food, fabulous presentation, very upmarket.

¨ Sun Inn, Cottesmore - nice village pub, good quality pub food.

¨ Fox & Hounds, Exton—good quality pub food in an attractive, secluded village location.
